Biography

Actor, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, singer, music producer and live performer, ili Yes was born in a family where spirituality, knowledge and culture are considered the bases of a good education.

His interest for music and dance started at very young age, influenced by the eclectic styles consumed at home, which included artists like Tina Turner, Oum Kalthoum, Blues Brothers, Tracy Chapman and The Gipsy Kings. Watching Michael Jackson's music videos, he learned his first dance moves and developed an eternal passion for the funk and hip-hop culture.

In 1995, aged 10, ili Yes joined the team of 'Idadat Asighar', radio program for kids weekly broadcast on the Moroccan National Radio. Supervised by Samir Errisouni and Amina El Alaoui El Abdellaoui, he was able to develop his improvisational and narrative skills during live streams. The recording sessions coincided with the presence of the National Philharmonic Orchestra in the studios and these served to arouse his interest in expanding his musical knowledge.

At 12 years of age, he joined the Conservatory of Music of Temara where he studied solfeggio and the classical guitar for 5 years. A learning experience that allowed him to cultivate his artistic sensitivity and discover new modes of expression, such as poetry and singing. After obtaining his A levels in Experimental Sciences in 2003, he chose to continue his university studies in Marketing & Business Management at the University of Perpignan in the south of France. City where he was influenced by the richness of the Catalan culture and its famous icons, like Gaudí and Salvador Dalí and started defining his own artistic universe.

Led by his growing passion for the performing arts, he chose to focus exclusively on his artistic career and signed his 1st professional contract aged 20 years old, as a dancer, actor and singer in 'The Lion King of the Jungle' and 'Grease is The Word', musicals produced by the Syppox Theatre. A unique experience during which he had the opportunity to progress and work with great artists and performing arts professionals, such as the contemporary dance choreographer Pauline Bréguiboul and the voice coach Alain Martin.

In 2009, he moved to Spain where, thanks to his vision and interest in the clubbing culture, he fast became one of the most influential figures of Madrid's nightlife, launching the YEEM Concept, before partnering with DJ Marcos Carrion to found the Clubbers Tour®. However, he quickly realised that the reality of nightlife did not match his aspirations and opted to reconnect with himself in the quiet city of Barbate in Andalusia.

This was a change of environment which allowed him to ascend spiritually and awakened his passion for songwriting and composing. Means of expression which he believes are powerful tools that can have a serious impact on Humanity and consequently, need to be used responsibly. In 2015, ili Yes returns to the stage, place where he feels fulfilled and joins the theatre company 'La Aurora Teatro' to participate in the project 'La Leva de Trafalgar'. A play written and directed by Sergio Román.

Based in London since 2017 and after a long journey through time, the soul has finally found its purpose. Aware of the responsibility that his existence and life trajectory involves, he decided to share his vision of life through his art. So after releasing 'Oh Gran Via' in November 2019, first track of his instrumental EP 'The Four Chapters', he started working on his Theatereality project, entitled 'The Flouss Twins'.

In May 2022, ili Yes released his new song 'Dawn O'Clock', autoproduced through his own label Jassound Records. Directed by the talented and creative producer César Morán Mazo, the live performance music video is a gentle introduction to the artistic universe of ili Yes' upcoming EP 'Liturgy of the Hours'.
